This pot takes a typical shape after so-called Shukaiko made in Ryusen kiln of Yuan dynasty China, which was originally wine (sake) jar with stretched shoulder and curvilinear contour, used like a punch bowl to contain and serve sake with a ladle. But in Japan this Chinese ware was used as a water jar for the tea ceremony.
